Spring is here—sports are colliding!

I really like this time of year. The break after a long winter is wonderful, of course, but what I REALLY enjoy is the collision of two of my favorite sports—baseball and hockey!

Opening day of baseball season is on Monday and, as a long suffering Chicago Cubs fan, I’m hoping for a solid rebuilding year after last year’s disappointing season. I’ll be at work during most of Monday’s opening game, but should be able to listen to the end of it in the car on my way home.

Hockey is winding down the regular season and the playoffs will be starting soon. My Chicago Black Hawks have been floundering a bit, but I’m still confident that a Stanley Cup repeat is within reach!

This is the time of year that I can always find a game—either on grass or on ice—to enjoy. I love it!

How about you? What are you looking forward to now that Spring is here? Please share!

I love books, reading, writing, cooking, eating, reading while eating, and sharing thoughts about all of the above–plus a bit more! I usually post about topics relating to books and literacy during the week, and then participate in a variety of non-bookish memes on the weekend. Please feel free to join in! Some random things about me– –I have multiple bookshelves in every room of my home except the bathroom. They’re all filled to bursting. They help to make my house my home. –I have two cats who I love dearly, but who I definitely do NOT dress in human clothing. Ever. –I’ve never had a cavity. –I make a mean spaghetti sauce. –I’m a newcomer to yoga and I love it. –My day is not complete without a little chocolate.

  7. I love sports! I hear you about the baseball team our Seattle Mariners never do very well… 1995 & 2001 were their only “good” seasons… I’m not in to hockey, yet, looks like we are trying for a team and then maybe I will get hooked! Happy Saturday!

  8. 🙂 I’m glad that you like sports, BM.
Spring for me means that the weeds are now taller than the grass.

  9. Ah well, for me autumn is here and I am not a sports fan at all. I am looking forward to the cosiness of home as the nights get cooler; how it becomes a sanctuary.

  10. I am looking forward to not being freezing!
