Do you have another window or tab open? If so, what are they for? Shockingly, I’ve only got one tab open right now. This is not normal for me!

Do you like to cook/bake? I like to bake, but I LOVE to cook. I’m better at cooking than baking. Baking is usually so exact—measurements, temperatures, baking times, etc. I have more baking disappointments than cooking disappointments. What I love to do is make things like homemade soups and stews where I can just keep chopping things up and tossing them in and at the end of it all I have something comforting and delicious.

What are you currently listening to? I can hear the furnace running.  It’s also really windy right now and I can hear some of the windows rattling a bit.

How long have you lived in the house you live in? It will be 15 years this July! Buying this house completely on my own with no help from anyone was a huge “Wow, I am really a grownup” moment for me.

Are you tired? Not yet—it’s early! Give me a few hours . . .

Do you pick your words carefully, or just tend to blurt everything out? Depends on the situation and how comfortable I am with the people around me.

Are you nice to everyone? I’ve got to admit that there are a couple of people who I am struggling to just act neutrally towards right now. It’s a workplace situation so I can’t blatantly be “not nice” but I’m definitely not going out of my way to initiate any niceness, either.

Have you ever tripped in public? Of course!

Are you a morning person or a night person? I used to be a total night owl. Now, if I’m up past 10pm that’s late for me. These days I’m really productive in the morning and then it starts slowly going downhill around 3pm.

Is it easier to forgive or forget?  I’ve gotten a lot better at forgiving over the past couple of years, but I’m not sure forgetting is always a good thing. Lessons can be lost if you forget . . .

Is there something that’s recently shocked you? I was shocked this past week at a betrayal that happened in my workplace–although, in retrospect, I guess I shouldn’t have been shocked at all. I am trying SO HARD to believe in karma . . .

Which is harder: walking away from somebody you love or coming back? Walking away can be gut-wrenching, even when you know it’s the right thing.

What were you doing at midnight last night? At midnight last night I’d been asleep for about 2 hours.

What color are your eyes? Blue

I love books, reading, writing, cooking, eating, reading while eating, and sharing thoughts about all of the above–plus a bit more! I usually post about topics relating to books and literacy during the week, and then participate in a variety of non-bookish memes on the weekend. Please feel free to join in! Some random things about me– –I have multiple bookshelves in every room of my home except the bathroom. They’re all filled to bursting. They help to make my house my home. –I have two cats who I love dearly, but who I definitely do NOT dress in human clothing. Ever. –I’ve never had a cavity. –I make a mean spaghetti sauce. –I’m a newcomer to yoga and I love it. –My day is not complete without a little chocolate.

  1. Lessons should be remembered…even if you’ve forgiven. I don’t understand how anyone can wipe something from their memory, anyway. I’ve never been able to. Maybe that will come, unwanted, with age? lol

  2. Wow–your answer to the night owl question is exactly like me! I used to be up at all hours but now it’s the opposite.

  3. I rarely stick 100% to recipes. I like to alter things to my liking’s or experiment. Sometimes, I really nail it too. 🙂

    • I do the same–the only problem is when someone asks for one of my recipes. I have to explain that I don’t really measure . . . and sometimes I can’t remember exactly what I changed!

  4. It is really windy today here in Kansas, as well.

  5. I love that you love to make soups and stews. These are wonderful staple foods that have been made by humans since they learned to take fire. And about forgetting or forgiving. I don’t think it’s possible to forget some things. Sorry you’ve had that betrayal. sheesh. sending hugs, trust the karma but remember that it isn’t always yours, as sometimes you are just in the line of fire.

  6. It sounds like your workplace needs a makeover.

  7. Karma is a struggler for me, too!

    I’ve really enjoyed this meme!
