What is on your bed right now? 1 quilt, 2 cats

What’s your favorite word or phrase? I’ve been told I use the word “absolutely” a lot.

What is the best ice cream flavor? Usually the more chocolate, the better—but sometimes there’s nothing like plain old French vanilla.

Did you wake up smiling this morning?
Probably not-but I don’t think I woke up frowning, either.

Is there something in your life you used to have, and now miss? There’s a friendship that ended about 2 years ago that I miss.

What major company would you like to work for? I’m really lucky–I’m working for it right now! It combines two things I’m passionate about–education and literacy.

What time do you wake up on a typical morning? 5:30 am—but I don’t get up until a little after 6am. That’s on work days–on weekends I still wake up around 5:30, but I stay in bed longer.

What holiday makes you sad?  I get nostalgic on New Years, but I’m usually not sad.

Where does a good night’s sleep rank on your priorities? It’s right up there–I’m pretty cranky when I’m overtired.

One song that makes you cry? “The Good Stuff” by Kenny Chesney—there are a couple of lines that make me cry EVERY TIME I hear it. I mean “actual tears running down my cheeks” crying.

How old was your mom when she had you? 25

When is the last time you went to the beach? I was at a conference the summer before last and our hotel was right on the beach in Florida—it was heavenly. That is, it was heavenly when I wasn’t stuck in the hotel going to meetings!

What is the most random object around you? There’s a little stuffed beagle sitting in one of the file trays on my desk—he’s half buried in papers.

What is your favorite sushi? I’ve never eaten sushi.

What food do you find disgusting? I can’t eat raw tomatoes—it’s a texture thing.

If you could have any type of dog in the world, what would it be? Some sort of medium-sized hound from a shelter.

What was the last meal that you made for yourself? I made a tuna casserole the other night. Tonight I’m making vegetable-cheese soup.

Is the hard drive on your computer full or getting close to being full? nope

Are there any songs that you prefer the acoustic version over the regular version? I’m sure there are, but I’m coming up empty on this one. Let’s move on. Oh, wait–we’re done!

I love books, reading, writing, cooking, eating, reading while eating, and sharing thoughts about all of the above–plus a bit more! I usually post about topics relating to books and literacy during the week, and then participate in a variety of non-bookish memes on the weekend. Please feel free to join in! Some random things about me– –I have multiple bookshelves in every room of my home except the bathroom. They’re all filled to bursting. They help to make my house my home. –I have two cats who I love dearly, but who I definitely do NOT dress in human clothing. Ever. –I’ve never had a cavity. –I make a mean spaghetti sauce. –I’m a newcomer to yoga and I love it. –My day is not complete without a little chocolate.

  1. Rescue Shelter dogs are the best!

  2. I think everyone should try sushi once unless, of course, you’re totally grossed out by the thought of eating it.

  3. Yeah, sushi grosses me out too. And You’ve NEVER had a cavity??

    • Nope–the only thing dental work other than cleanings that I’ve ever had was when I had my wisdom teeth removed. And the odd thing is-both my parents have mouthfulls of fillings.

  4. I get nostalgic on New Year’s Eve if I don’t have specific plans.

  5. A few people have said tomatoes. I never realized people had a problem with their texture. Vegetable cheese soup sounds delish! I’m making a veggie soup this week. I should look up a creamy veggie soup instead. Yum. Have a great week!

  6. Yay, kitties! I love it when my kitty is laying on my bed. It makes it inviting. My daughter will agree with you on the chocolate. It’s hard when friendships end. Your stuffed beagle just wants to be warm under the papers…lol. Yum…I love tuna casserole. I wished my picky family liked it. Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I appreciate it. 🙂

  7. My husband loves raw tomatoes, but he won’t eat them cooked. I can take them or leave them either way.

  8. my cat sleeps on my bed also.
hope you can visit my Sunday Stealing
